Blessing To The Community

St. Mary’s Food Bank is a “Blessing to the Community.”

It is a struggle to keep the kids fed, but with the help of St. Mary’s Mobile Pantry program, they are making ends meet.

Due to medical issues, Elaine has not been able to walk or stand for long stretches for four years. At one point, she was immobile for three months with no one to help her. Retired, widowed and alone, Elaine struggled greatly.

One thing they do as a family is visit the nearby St. Mary’s Mobile Pantry program. “I don’t get out very much and since it isn’t a long wait for food at the Mobile Pantry, my back and legs don’t ache,” she said. The nutritious food her family needs is readily available. Everything Elaine would like to be able to afford at the grocery store. “My grandchildren are not picky when it comes to food. They love the milk. They love the greens, the fruit and meat, all very healthy choices”, she said.

Despite her struggles, Elaine is positive and full of cheer. She feels blessed and is thankful for her grandchildren who help her get around and help around the house. It is a struggle to keep the kids fed, but with the help of St. Mary’s Mobile Pantry program, they are making ends meet.

Referring to St. Mary’s generous supporters, Elaine exclaimed, “I would say they are a blessing to the community.”
