Helping Hungry Neighbors

Filling The Gap For Hungry Neighbors

Jeanne could not make ends meet without her monthly bike ride to St. Mary’s, where she receives a box of fresh produce and other food staples. A senior on a fixed income, Jeanne can’t always afford the wholesome food her body needs to stay healthy. “Those who give to St. Mary’s are such a blessing in my life,” she said. “I would have gone without food this month if it weren’t for St. Mary’s Food Bank.” Jeanne has been out of work for several years due to a disability. When she had to stop working, it depleted her retirement savings. Now, paying her rent and utilities leaves very little money for food each month. Unfortunately, like Jeanne, thousands of our neighbors in Arizona struggle with hunger. Children and families all over our state are wondering where their next meal will come from. Many people work multiple jobs to provide for their families. Others have dealt with serious health issues or being injured at work. These struggling neighbors are forced to choose between paying their bills and buying groceries—a choice no one should have to make.
