Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
The Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive is an annual event that takes place in communities all across the United States. Each year on the second Saturday in May, postal carriers collect non-perishable food donations from homes and businesses to help stock local food banks and pantries.
This event has been taking place for over 30 years, and it has become one of the largest one-day food drives in the country. One of the reasons why the Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive is so successful is because it is easy for people to participate. All you have to do is leave non-perishable food items next to your mailbox on the second Saturday in May, and your postal carrier will pick them up when they deliver your mail. It’s that simple!
But the impact of this drive goes far beyond just collecting food. It also raises awareness about the issue of hunger and food insecurity in our communities. According to Feeding America, over 42 million people in the United States are food insecure, meaning they lack reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.
The Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive is an opportunity for all of us to come together and make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling to put food on the table. By donating even just a few cans or boxes of non-perishable food items, we can help ensure that our neighbors and community members have access to the food they need to thrive.
Participating is easy!
Simply leave a bag of non-perishable food items next to your mailbox on May 13, and your letter carrier will handle the rest.
